Music

  • Wed. 25 January: So you think you know about music? Come and test your knowledge in Rod's popular music quiz, from 8:00 p.m. with spot, wine and cash prizes. £1 entrance fee. Individuals and teams of up to 4 welcome.
  • Sat. 18 February: Kelly's Tattoo - the popular Portsmouth-based Folk'n'Roll band returns to demonstrate again its unique brand of Celtic-tinged folk and rock. Live from 9:00 p.m. Free entry.

Sport

  • Major fixtures in football, rugby, Formula One, etc. throughout the month in the bar on Sky TV.

Pub Quizzes

  • Wed. 25 January: Our monthly music quiz - see above for details.
  • Sun. 12 February: We are one of the teams in Spirit FM's annual 'Battle of the Boozers' when we have to answer 10 general knowledge questions in 60 seconds. Come along at 12 noon prompt to lend your support – and brainpower!

Winter Beer Festival

  • Fri. 24 to Sun. 26 February: Chase away the winter blues at our annual February Beer Festival, which will be held in our Skittle Room and the main bar. We will be offering a range of up to 15 real ales, mainly from micro breweries, so come and sample some of the outstanding variety and flavours produced by the country's flourishing independent brewery sector.

Brewery Visit

  • Date to be advised: We have not yet finalised the date, but are planning a visit to Bowman's Brewery, which produces some of the excellent guest ales which appear on our bar from time to time, such as 'Swift One' and 'Quiver'. The team at Bowman's have decades of brewing experience behind them and, last autumn, won 'Hampshire Beer of the Year' yet again. Expressions of interest at the bar will be welcomed.
